Play the numbers round from Countdown in your browser. You pick how many large numbers to include, the game deals six tiles and a random target from 101 to 999, and you reach the target by combining the tiles with the four operations. Division has to come out whole and results cannot go negative, just like the show. It is a proper mental workout in arithmetic and planning, and a running streak keeps you chasing exact solutions.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Choose your tiles

Pick how many large numbers you want, from none to four. The rest are small. Then deal a round to get your six tiles and a target.

  2. 2

    Build toward the target

Tap a number, an operation, then another number. Each result becomes a new tile you can use. Division must be exact and nothing can go below zero.

  3. 3

    Hit it exactly

Land on the target to solve the round and extend your streak. Undo a step or reset the round whenever you want.

Frequently asked questions

What are the rules of the numbers round?
You combine some or all of the six tiles using add, subtract, multiply and divide to reach the target. Each tile is used at most once, division must give a whole number, and no intermediate result can be negative or a fraction.
Can every target be solved exactly?
No. Depending on the tiles, some targets have no exact solution, which is true on the show too. When that happens, the closest you can get is the goal. Choosing more large numbers tends to make exact solutions easier to find.
What is a good target to aim for?
Getting the target exactly is the win. On the show, landing within ten still scores, so treat an exact hit as excellent and anything within a few as a solid effort.
Do bigger numbers make it easier?
Often, yes. Including more large numbers like 75 or 100 gives you bigger building blocks and more routes to a high target, though it can make some smaller targets fiddlier. Mixing it up keeps the game interesting.
