Frequently asked questions
- How is the percentage of the year worked out?
- It is the time that has passed since the first moment of 1 January divided by the whole length of the year, then shown as a percentage. Because the maths uses the real calendar, a leap year with 366 days is handled correctly, so the same date reads a touch lower in a leap year than in a common one.
- Does the bar update on its own?
- Yes. While the page is open the bar and the percentage refresh every minute, so the figure stays current without a reload. The day number and days left update with it as the clock rolls past midnight.
- What do the Quarter, Month and Day options show?
- They switch the bar to a shorter period. Quarter measures how far through the current three-month quarter you are, Month through the current calendar month, and Day through the 24 hours of today. Each one fills from 0 at the start to 100 at the end.
- Can I put the bar on my own website?
