Sort Lines Alphabetically
Sort lines alphabetically online, ascending or descending, with a case-insensitive mode, a numeric mode for number lists, and an option to remove duplicates as you sort. Paste your list and get it ordered instantly. Free and private.
Sort lines alphabetically online, either A to Z or Z to A, straight from a pasted list. This line sorter also has a numeric mode so numbers order by value, a case-insensitive mode, and an option to remove duplicates as it sorts. Paste names, terms, references or numbers and copy the ordered list back. It is quicker and more reliable than reordering a long list by hand.

Alphabetise names, terms or references so they are easy to scan and look professional.
Number lists

Frequently asked questions
- Why use numeric sort instead of alphabetical?
- Alphabetical sorting compares character by character, so it places "10" before "2" because "1" comes before "2". Numeric sort reads each line as a number and orders by value, so the list 2, 10, 1, 21 becomes 1, 2, 10, 21. Use numeric mode whenever your lines are numbers or start with them.
- What does case-insensitive sorting do?
- It groups words together regardless of capitalisation, so "Banana", "apple" and "Cherry" sort as apple, Banana, Cherry rather than putting all the capitalised words first. With it off, uppercase letters sort ahead of lowercase ones, which can scatter related words apart.
- Can it remove duplicates while sorting?
- Yes. Switch on the dedupe option and identical lines are collapsed to one as the list is sorted, so you get a clean, ordered, unique list in a single step.
